8 Confluence Label Management Apps: Features Comparison

Last updated: October 2, 2026.

We tested 8 Confluence apps and compared their label management capabilities feature by feature.

Confluence labels power search, reports, and macros like Content by Label. Over time they get messy. Duplicates like meeting-notes and meetingnotes, typos and outdated, inconsistent or unnecessary labels add up. Confluence’s native label management capabilities can require page-by-page editing, which becomes difficult to manage across thousands of pages or dozens of spaces.

A label management app for Confluence can provide bulk label management in Confluence, allowing admins and space owners to view, add, edit, rename, merge and delete labels across multiple pages. Some label management apps include previews and confirmation steps before applying bulk changes, which can help reduce the risk of making unintended changes.

How we tested and compared these 8 Confluence label management apps

To compare the 8 Confluence apps for label management feature-by-feature we downloaded and tested each app on our test Confluence instance and used each as users with label problems to solve:

Space Content Manager – Label Manager – Magic Labels for Confluence – Label Manager for Confluence – Label Organizer for Confluence Cloud – Mosaic – Page Manager for Confluence – Scroll Content Manager

The 8 Confluence label management apps compared

Space Content Manager

Space Content Manager is a Confluence bulk content management app from Easy Apps that includes label management alongside other page and space administration tools. Its label features include adding, removing, merging, and replacing labels, while the broader app also supports bulk find and replace, page status and owner management, title editing, link management, filtering, and bulk operations across multiple spaces.

Label Manager

Label Manager is a Confluence app from Easy Apps focused specifically on bulk label management at the space level. Users can add and delete labels, while space administrators can also merge, rename, and replace labels. The app supports label management across large spaces, provides a preview before changes are confirmed, and includes a quick way to add a label to an individual page.

Magic Labels for Confluence

Magic Labels for Confluence is a Confluence Cloud app focused on labels. It supports bulk adding, removing, and renaming labels, as well as applying labels to child pages through label inheritance.

Label Manager for Confluence

Label Manager for Confluence supports bulk actions to add, replace, and remove labels, with options to define the content scope, include child content, review changes before applying them, and track the results of bulk operations.

Label Organizer for Confluence Cloud

Label Organizer for Confluence Cloud focuses on helping teams view, organize, and clean up Confluence labels. It provides an overview of labels and where they are used, along with bulk operations for adding, deleting, renaming, and merging labels.

Mosaic

Mosaic is a broader Confluence content curation and formatting app rather than a label-management-focused tool. It provides a space manager and page-building features alongside macros for formatting and structuring Confluence content, including tabs, tables, HTML/CSS/JS, cards, buttons, banners, and page status. Its broader content management capabilities can make it relevant when label management is part of a wider Confluence organization and content curation workflow.

Page Manager for Confluence

Pages Manager for Confluence is a bulk page operations app designed to help administrators manage the lifecycle of Confluence spaces and pages. Its focus is broader than label management, covering page-level administration and bulk content operations. For a label-management comparison, it is useful as a broader page-management option rather than a dedicated label management tool.

Scroll Content Manager

Scroll Content Manager is a broader Confluence content management and governance app designed for managing documentation and knowledge bases at scale. It provides bulk management and activity tracking, along with approval workflows and version management for Confluence content. Its focus extends beyond labels to content governance, documentation workflows, and managing larger trees of Confluence content.

ScriptRunner vs. label management app

ScriptRunner for Confluence and dedicated Confluence bulk label management tools (see comparison charts above) can both help manage Confluence content. Yet, they take different approaches.

Scripting and automation is what ScriptRunner is designed around. It requires Groovy scripting expertise to interact with the Confluence REST API. It can provide considerable flexibility when a label action requires custom logic. But creating and maintaining scripts requires strong technical knowledge and the administrator needs to understand the relevant Confluence APIs, scripting environment and permissions.

Dedicated Confluence bulk label management apps provide pre-built interfaces for bulk label editing.

Depending on the app, these can include bulk adding, removing and deleting labels, renaming labels, and merging labels. Making label management tasks accessible without writing a script.

The trade-offs

The main trade-off is simplicity that allows a cross section of Confluence users to do work versus flexibility that requires a technical administrator to do tasks.

A dedicated Confluence bulk label management app can be easier to use when the task matches one of its built-in operations. For example, an administrator who needs to rename a label or merge two similar labels can use a purpose-built interface rather than developing a script. The trade-off is that the available operations depend on what the particular app supports.

ScriptRunner takes the opposite approach. Its scripting model can provide more flexibility for complex or highly customized Confluence automation. The trade-off is that scripts require more technical knowledge and can require additional development, testing, troubleshooting and ongoing maintenance.

For a one-off or recurring standard label management task, a purpose-built bulk editing interface may reduce the amount of technical work required. For a task involving custom business logic, complex conditions, or automation that goes beyond an app’s built-in features, scripting can provide greater flexibility.

Which approach should you choose?

If your primary requirement is to edit labels using a visual interface, compare the available label management apps above based on the specific operations they support. Look for features such as bulk adding, removing and deleting labels, renaming labels, and merging labels.

If your requirements involve custom Confluence automation, conditional logic or workflows that are not available as built-in bulk operations, a scripting-based approach may provide the flexibility you need.

Rather than comparing the tools only by the number of features they offer, identify the specific Confluence tasks you need to automate and then check whether they are supported directly or require custom scripting.

Key differences between the Confluence label management apps

Space Content Manager and Label Manager support label editing, adding, deleting, and bulk renaming Confluence labels, as well as merging labels across multiple spaces. They also provide preview and confirmation capabilities.

Label Organizer for Confluence Cloud supports label editing across spaces and provides rename, merge, preview, and export capabilities, but its bulk deletion support is limited.

Magic Labels for Confluence supports label editing within a space, label renaming, and a denylist for preventing unwanted labels.

Mosaic includes label management as part of a broader Confluence content management and formatting platform.

Pages Manager for Confluence and Scroll Content Manager provide label capabilities as part of broader page/content management rather than focusing exclusively on labels.

Which Confluence label management app is right for you?

The 8 apps differ in how they handle Confluence label management actions such as adding, removing, renaming and merging labels, as well as whether those operations can be performed on selected pages, across a space or across multiple spaces. Some apps focus specifically on labels, while others include label management as part of broader Confluence content management tool.

If you need to manage Confluence labels across multiple spaces, pay particular attention to the multi-space columns in the comparison table.

Before choosing a Confluence label management app, consider the operations you need, the amount of content you manage, whether you need multi-space editing and your requirements for preview, confirmation, security and pricing.
